My Testimony of Prayer

I know that the mormon doctrine that prayer is a direct communication with God is true. I have never heard His voice speaking to me, but I have felt in my heart countless times the peace He has sent in response to my prayers. My prayers have also been answered by an increase in knowledge or by a confirmation that I know which choice I should make. The mormon doctrine of both daily and constant prayer is one which is very comforting to me, because it means God is always ready, willing, and eager to listen to me and to my problems and concerns.

An Uncomfortable Musical Number

In my mom’s ward where I grew up (what we call a congregation in The Church of jesus christ of Latter-day Saints), this girl used to get up and do musical numbers, but when she messed up, she would stop singing and start to cry. Once she did a duet with her mom and her mom took her part over for her. Another time she stopped and started crying because the pianist had her pages in the wrong order. It was a beautiful song about Jesus Christ, but it made me uncomfortable to watch. When you mess up, you just have to keep going.

Not all honeys are alike

For example, some beekeepers remove supers with dark tulip poplar honey before it can mix with incoming sourwood honey which is lighter. Usually, lighter honeys command higher prices, and most beekeepers try to keep darker honeys from mixing with lighter ones. Not all honeys are alike. As nectar comes in, bees place it in cells and evaporate it to about 18 per-cent water content. Add plenty of supers to accommodate buy honey bees incoming nectar and the large bee populations; this stimulates foraging and limits late-season swarming. If you feed your colonies, medicate them, requeen them and control swarming, they should be strong enough to collect surplus nectar by mid-April.

Tutoring Brought A Productive Routine In My Life

I am a homemaker by choice, however the routine sometimes would get on me and that’s when I thought I should do some other tasks to add variety to my routine. While discussing with my partner, various options came to mind, but then he suggested tutoring as an option highlighting how I like interacting and am good at explaining concepts. That struck me. I got excited and did some legwork and was quickly a self proclaimed tutor. From word of mouth and friends’ referrals I got some kids to tutor and I found that experience out of this world. Being able to make a small difference in those young lives was very thrilling. I love this experience.

A Talk With My Best Friend

It was such a relief to talk with my best friend the other night and hear her sweet voice and Irish accent! When I got off the phone with her and told my gay mormon friend about our discussion, I almost cried. It’s been months and she’s been busy traveling, getting her son settled in school, etc. I have quite a few “best friends”, but I missed this one terribly. She is an amazing support to me. So is my gay mormon friend, but fortunately I get to see her every week when she comes over for dinner on Wednesday.

My Dad’s Patent Cooperation Treaty Story

My dad has worked in the patent office for almost fourteen years now, which is a pretty neat thing. I remember when I was younger, I would ask him all sorts of things about inventors and inventions. I still remember the day he went off about the patent cooperation treaty when I brought one of my boyfriends home! I was so embarrassed at first, but then he started telling my dad all about the things he wanted to invent. And you know, I am still friends with that guy. And him and my dad still talk about his latest and greatest inventions.
